A-121 Drinking Behavior and Impulsivity in College Students

Abstract Objective: Individuals with chronic alcohol abuse have been shown to be more impulsive. Our objective in the present study was assess drinking behavior healthy college students and examine potential relationships between these habits impulsive behavior. Method: College (n = 22) completed a survey about behaviors, Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (assessing various subscales of impulsivity), Color-Word Inference Test portion Delis Kaplan Executive Function System (DKEFS). The is variation Stroop Test, testing ability inhibit prepotent responses. Results: We found significant relationship (r 0.428, p 0.047) total number drinks per week (M 5.59, SD 5.70) motor impulsiveness subscale 2.12, 0.455). Looking for behavioral evidence this relationship, we examined same group DKEFS self-corrected errors 0.909, 1.02) positively associated consumed 0.446, 0.037). Conclusion(s): Preliminary results show consumption impulsivity. propose that greater may an indicator our subjects made on due tendencies are then catching correcting their soon after they made. These findings interest considering population young otherwise students, suggesting fairly mild but acute effects moderately heavy consumption.
